Orla Walsh has provided us with some of her favourite ‘fakeaway’ recipe ideas for you to recreate at home. Not only are they a healthier alternative to takeaways, but they’re also packed full of nutritious Irish meat and dairy ingredients to ensure you and your family are getting a varied and balanced diet full of family favourites.
The great thing about pizza is that any topping goes – when it comes to vegetables, picking a few that are in season is the way to go. For a summer pizza, vegetables including courgettes, peppers, scallions, tomatoes, mushrooms and beetroot are the perfect in-season toppings.
When it comes to cheese – there’s nothing quite like using the best quality Irish Mozzarella and Cheddar cheeses as a pizza topping.

Method
Grab a wholewheat wrap, a Turkish flat bread or seeded pitta bread. To increase fibre intake, you can choose a wrap that has greater than 6 grams of fibre per 100g. This information should be within a nutritional information box at the back of the pack.
Smear on some tomato puree and load up with your favourite pizza toppings and sprinkle with oregano.
Cook in the oven (preferably on a tray with holes in it) until the cheese has melted. Eat with some salad – cheaper than a takeaway, technically quicker too… and of course is a healthier option!
